Starting out in 2006, Little Dish has successfully developed into the leading Children’s Prepared Meals brand in the UK with their range of healthy, natural meals. Currently Little Dish supply in excess of 100,000 meals per week to satisfy the hungry tummies of toddlers. They recently set themselves a challenge to further establish their brand by widening the range of background colours used in order to make the meal type more identifiable whilst maintaining their overall brand image.
What we did
Working with Little Dish and their manufacturer, artwork was supplied inclusive of any new colours not previously printed. Solid pantone colour swatches were generated using the selected board and varnish. The swatches were then used to measure against colour bars added to the printed sheets at regular intervals throughout the printing of each design to ensure consistency of colour.
Little Dish sleeves are printed on the front and reverse of board. The reverse is cleverly utilised to continue both the parent and child’s experience of the product after sale and consumption of the meal. The reverse always incorporates an activity for the youngster and often includes marketing information or competition details relevant to the adult purchaser. The face of the packaging is vibrant and fun whilst also portraying the brands wholesome “proper food” message.
The extra mile
Graphic Packaging International supported both Little Dish and their manufacturer throughout the process, calling upon their experience and specialist processes to supply a top class packaging product. Graphic Packaging International arranged with Little Dish a lengthy pass on press that allowed for immediate review and approval of all designs, in particular those with a new background colour.
Commenting on their experience with Graphic Packaging International throughout the process Estée Mathias, Product Manager for Little Dish, said “Press-passing 12 SKUs in succession, each with their own unique background colour, was no small feat. However the support we received from our Account Manager at Graphic Packaging International, coupled with the exceptional technical know-how of the Production Shift Manager, was key in helping us to achieve a final result that exceeded our expectations.”
