The brief

Philips Avent is a producer of market leading baby bottles - rigorous QA testing was required, and it was vital that Graphic Packaging International met the Philips strict health and safety requirements.

What we did

Graphic Packaging International joined the Philips BOM check system - a bill of materials unique to the client which required Graphic Packaging International to enter details of packaging components. Graphic Packaging International’s experienced technical team is familiar with these systems so this proved no issue.

It was vital that we engaged fully with Philips Avent in order to gain understanding of how they would handle our cartons on their packing lines. Philips Avent made three site visits to our premises to examine our housekeeping and capabilities and were satisfied by each visit. Our production team also produced detailed process maps for all areas and created PFMEAs detailing CTQ areas and solutions. (Process Fault Mode Evaluation Analysis and Critical to Quality)

The product

Some of the Philips Avent range uses pick-and-place rigid windows which incorporate a clear acetate window in one plane. Unlike many packaging companies, Graphic Packaging International’s Bardon plant is able to handle pick and place requirements in-house along with the rest of the production process, which speeds up turnaround times significantly. The tuck in end carton is easy to assemble and pack by hand, and the Incada silk board provides a bright white carton, ideal for the product category.

The extra mile

A Graphic Packaging International Team from Sales, Production and Technical Support visited Philips Avents manufacturing site on two occasions to fully understand their processes. By fully engaging with a customer, understanding how they handle our cartons on their packing lines, we can provide them with the best product and service to suit their requirements.
