The product, a true breakthrough in renewable and efficient fresh food packaging, beat off strong competition to win the ‘Packaging Innovation Award’ category.
Gemma Jackson, GPI Marketing Manager Beverage, said: “We are delighted to receive this award which provides independent industry acknowledgement of the engineering and design behind FruitPack™, as well as the value it brings to the produce sector. The team found it a rewarding process to create such a special concept and we welcome RISI PPI Awards’ celebration of this.”
The premium FruitPack™ range includes a variety of shelf-ready, mono-material solutions for preserving and protecting fresh produce. A sustainable alternative to plastic packaging, it addresses the emerging trend for multi-packed fruit and vegetables in a visually impactful carton which can be fully branded.
When packaged in FruitPack™, fruit and vegetables are protected by its intelligent structure and the lightweight, easily stackable design reduces the carbon footprint along the supply chain. Retailers benefit from the packaging’s artisan look which helps to drive sales, while consumers enjoy its convenience and eco-friendly credentials with easy-carry handles and recyclable materials.
Held at the CEPI European Paper Week in Brussels on 29 November 2017, the RISI PPI Awards recognise the creativity and innovation that is forging the future of the pulp and paper industry. The glittering ceremony celebrated the groundbreaking developments made by the sector’s most influential companies.
