Product Packaging Design & Innovation
Graphic Packaging International is committed to creating the future in cartons with a focus on investing in fresh design talent and innovative food packaging design solutions.
Network of Design Facilities
Our Global Innovation Centre for Europe is based at our Bardon site (UK) and opens in July 2015. The Centre provides an inspirational area for the product packaging design team to work on bespoke innovative projects for both the food and beverage sectors of the business. It’s a great place to interact and design with the team and has access to our premium mock up service.
We have two further Innovation Centres; a European Design Centre in Leeds (UK) and a Development Kitchen testing facility in Igualada (Spain).
Our Team and Capabilities
We have a reputation within the industry for pioneering packaging concepts. Our expert team will bring creative flair to your project.
Our Conceptual design team consists of a group of creative minds with an eye for detail, innovation and fresh design flair. They work alongside Technical Design and Production teams to develop innovative concepts that fit with our Global production capabilities. Innovative concepts are also sought through partnerships with other packaging specialists and via the latest developments from equipment suppliers. Graphic Packaging International is often seen as the company of choice for other manufacturers looking to beta test potential packaging ideas.
Investing in Future Talent
Graphic Packaging International is proud to invest in the future of product packaging design, running work experience placements and Apprenticeship schemes in conjunction with local Colleges and Universities. This gives packaging designers of the future a boost up the career ladder and brings fresh and innovative new ideas into the business to share with our customers.
The company is keen to help educate customers on the latest design innovations in carton packaging. We host fun and informative innovation days, either at one of our facilities or at a customer site. Innovation days give client packaging departments the opportunity to meet our innovation team and have an interactive discussion about packaging trends, new materials, print finishes and innovative concepts.
In addition to this, the design team is also involved in industry days at schools and colleges, providing one hour carton school workshops. These sessions include discussions on design trends, packaging concept design, constructional CAD design and mock ups.
Technical Design and Sampling: Value Engineering and Profile Rationalisation
Graphic Packaging International employs a team of experienced designers across nine of our European sites offering expertise on Packaging Design and Machinery across Food and Beverage Markets. The teams have a vast amount of experience and detailed understanding of working with cardboard based products, a thorough understanding of production capabilities and commercial constraints.
The product packaging design requirements can consist of simple enhancements to an existing CAD model, or can be created from scratch. In-house experts can link their retail package design know how to customer requirements in order to deliver designs that have shelf appeal, run efficiently on production lines and make the best use of the materials available.
